Sam Havens spent 28 years at Prudential Insurance Co. in a number of positions including President of Prucare, their HMO subsidiary, and later President of Prudential Health Care, one of the largest Employee Benefit firms in the US. He was a Director of AHIP, the national health plan Association, and served as Chairman from 1990-1992. He retired in 1997 and started a second career as investor, board member, and advisor to early stage health services and IT firms. He has worked with over 20 firms including NIA (MedSolutions, TelaDoc, Vital Decisions), Avalon Health Services (Apixio, CMI, Medeananlytics), and Cecelia Health. He has a BA from Hamilton College and a JD from Temple law school. He lives with his wife Dr. Audrey Kupchan in Barrington, RI.
